Teach your preschoolers and kindergarteners these fun songs about the wonderful fall/autumn season and the falling leaves.
Some of them are simply variations of popular songs the children already know.
Make sure you teach your children the simple finger rhyme (#6 below)!
1. The Leaves on the Trees
Sing this song to the tune of The Wheels on the Bus.
Make up any lyrics you can think of:
The leaves on the trees are falling down, falling down, falling down
The leaves on the trees are falling down
All over town.
Some verses to add:
The leaves on the trees are orange, yellow, red;
The leaves on the trees are changing colours;
The leaves on the ground go crunch, crunch, crunch.
2. Rake, Rake, Rake the Leaves
Sing this to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat:
Rake, rake, rake the leaves
That have fallen down
Name the colours that you see
Red and orange and brown
Feel free to make up additional verses.
3. The Little Leaf is Dancing
Combine music and movement with this action song by Miss Caitlin Music. It teaches the concepts of high, low, fast and slow.
Give each child their own leaf and get them to join in.
4. Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down
Sing this to the tune of London Bridge is Falling Down, while the children pretend to fall like leaves.
Here are the lyrics:
Autumn leaves are changing colours, changing colours, changing colours.
Autumn leaves are changing colours all over town.
Repeat the verses with: Autumn leaves are falling down; Take a rake and rake them up; Make a pile and jump in.
5. Five Little Leaves
Teach your kids this fun counting song with actions, by Angie Carter. The song counts backwards from five:
6. Five Little Leaves Fingerplay
This is similar to the previous song and is a great little fingerplay to teach your kids. It is by My Music Mary.
Here is the first verse:
Five little leaves so happy and bright
Were dancing among the trees one night
Along came a wind and blew through town
(Blowing sound) and one little leaf came tumbling down.
Continue to count down until there are no leaves left.
7. Boom Chicka Boom Autumn
If you are able to play this song by The Learning Station for your kids, it is full of fun actions and lyrics to repeat after.
8. Leaves Are Falling
This simple song can be sung to the tune of Oh My Darling, Clementine.
Leaves are falling,

9. We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt
This song by The Kiboomers is a fun variation of the popular storybook We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
The children will enjoy following the actions as they try to find a leaf in a field of corn and in a pumpkin patch, only to be scared off by a little caterpillar at the end.
10. Leaf Song
This short leaf song by Little Kiddos Music Academy has simple lyrics and some great movements and body percussion.
11. Fall Song for Kids
Here’s another short fall song, sung to the tune of Jingle Bells, by Lena’s Little Ones.
12. Falling Leaf
This final song by Stephanie Leavell has lots of fun hand movements to do along with the words. It also introduces action words such as fall, spin, fly and float through singing and movement.
